yesterday, we received our first morel mushooms of spring! but wait, it's not officially spring yet. close enough! these little jewels are considered to be the first sign that spring is here. chefs i know all over the country clamor for this special edible honeycomb like spore to pop out of the ground and make it to their kitchens. ours arrived safely from the journey from nearby Yosemite with bill our mushroom guy. last night at Grange, they were paired with some beautiful gold chanterelles & asparagus to make a scrumptious ragout served with columbia river sturgeon.
