for those of you that live in or near Sacramento and the San Joaquin valley, you know that we still have a ways to go. even as the official first day of fall was this past tuesday, temperatures have been around 100 degrees all week. at Grange Restaurant, expect to see the bright, light and refreshing chilled soups give way to hearty, silky and sumptuous concoctions. as the flavors of summer fade into memory, we say good by to tomatoes, corn, melons & berries and we start looking forward to cooking with the hearty kind of gusto that the fall season inspires. delicious apples & pears are already making an appearance, along with quince, parsnips, fall/winter squash. lettuces are again looking and tasting like,....lettuce! we continue to get delicious hogs from Riverdog Farm, duck from Liberty, Goat from Copeland family farm and we are about to introduce an absolutely fantastic 100% Grassfed Beef from Novy Ranch, we will be the only restaurant in the area to get this beef! fall also signals many harvest festivals in the area as well as olive harvest. we have just recently introduced a Northern California Artisan Olive Oil Tasting on our menu.
